Bruin Band Tradition
The history of the Lake Braddock Band is one of continued excellence reflecting the dedication of hard-working students, parents, and faculty. Lake Braddock is the only school in the Commonwealth of Virginia to be designated a Virginia Honor Band for 39 consecutive years and 41 superiors in marching assessment!
2022-23
Earned 40 years of Consecutive Virginia Honor Band Awards and 41st Superior Rating for Marching Band at VBODA.
2021-22
Earned a 40th Superior Rating for Marching Band at VBODA after a year break due to COVID-19.
2020-21
No Marching Band or Concert Band Assessments due to COVID-19.
2019-20
Symphonic band was selected through a competitive anonymous application selection process for the National Music For All Festival in Indiana. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our musicians and it is the first time in the history of this event that an orchestra and band from the same school are going to the event together in collaboration.

2017-18
Lake Braddock Band students were selected by the John Philip Sousa Foundation as a recipient of the 2017 Sudler Flag of Honor. The Award is recognized as one of the Nation’s highest awards that can be presented to a concert band program. The purpose of the Sudler Flag of Honor is to identify, recognize and honor high school band programs internationally that have demonstrated particularly significant high standards of excellence in concert activities over a sustained period of several years.
